Tony Stewart Wins the Allstate 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Tony Stewart won the Allstate 400 Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with 250,000 fans in attendance.  He started in 22nd position and it took 100 laps for Tony to get to the front passing Brian Vickers. 

The atmosphere was tense in the final laps as Kasey Kahne and Stewart fought for the top spot.  The vast majority of the were elated as Stewart crossed the finish line ahead of Kahne.  . 

"I am going to take a little detour, boys," Stewart said to his crew over the radio moments after winning. "I am going to enjoy this one." 

The 34-year old Stewart grew up In Columbus Indiana just 40 miles from the Indianapolis track. This made Sunday’s win special because he has always dreamed of winning at the Brickyard. 


This is Stewart’s fourth victory in the past six Nextel Cup Races.   This was Stewarts fifth Indianapolis 500 Race and he has never finished better than 5th place here.  Kasey Kahne took second place followed by Brian Vickers and Jeremy Mayfield.  Jeff Gordon came in 8th place.
