from West Wing dies of Heart Attack

John Spencer was four days from
his 59th birthday, when he died of a heart attack this
past Friday.
Spencer was a 2002 Emmy winner
for the NBC West Wing TV series. An NBC spokesperson stated that
Spencer died at the hospital. He was a recovering alcoholic.
He was born on December 20th,
1946. His first break came as a role of a love interest of Cathy
Lane in the 1960’s Patty Duke Show.
In 1990, Spencer played Tommy
Mullaney in NBC’s L.A. Law. He stayed with L.A. Law until 1994. He
then did some films as a supporting actor in Forget Paris and The
Rock. He also was also in Presumed Innocent and Black Rain.
In 1999, he was acting for NBC’s
West Wing TV show. He also continued to act in the theater.
Spencer earned five Emmy nominations from 2000-2004 for Outstanding
Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
