Lindsay Lohan has decided to go into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. Just last month it was confirmed that she was attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings. The actress was reprimanded by a studio executive last July for her late night partying.

Lohan confirmed that she has gone into rehab through her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, according to a report from TMZ. "I have made a proactive decision to take care of my personal health. I appreciate your well wishes and ask that you please respect my privacy at this time."

Lohan’s mother, Dina Lane, broke the news about her AA meetings last month on a KIIS FM radio show in Los Angeles with Ryan Seacrest. “It's true, a lot of people she hangs out with go and it's a positive thing." Lohan had been seen at clubs with Britney Spear and Paris Hilton. At that time some in the media dubbed them the “Brit Pack”.

Her mother also stuck up for the 20 year-old actress when Morgan Creek Productions CEO, James Robinson sent Lohan a letter back in July reprimanding her for late-night partying. He threatened to sue her for losses in the filming of “Georgia Rule.” In a letter made public on thesmokinggun website, Robinson said "You and your representatives have told us that your various late arrivals and absences from the set have been the result of illness; today we were told it was 'heat exhaustion."

Her mother
responded by saying that the wording of the letter was “ridiculous”. She said her daughter had been taken to the hospital suffering from heat stroke. Lane said “Maybe he has personal issues with whomever, and it came out with my child. I don’t know him. I can’t judge him. I don’t think it was a smart thing to do to a young girl.”
