Chicago Bears Beat the New Orleans Saints – Will Play The Indianapolis Colts Who Beat the New England Patriots – Super Bowl XLI

New England is out, but not without a great game for the AFC title. The Indianapolis Colts beat the New England Patriots 38-34 in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. Peyton Manning drew out the best in the colts for an 80-yard drive to win the game, after being 18 points down in the second quarter.

In two weeks Indianapolis will charge at the great defense of the Chicago Bears, who also won this weekend. The Bears smashed the New Orleans Saints 39-14. This was the first time ever that the Saints made it to the NFC conference game. They are also the only team to make it after losing 13 games the year before.

The Saints had the NFC number one ranked offense, but still could not pull off a win against the number one defense of the Bears. Out of the previous 10 match-ups between the No. 1 offense and the No. 1 defense, the No. 1 offense has won seven times.

While everyone is touting the Bears defense, their offense was not shabby either. Quarterback Rex Grossman produced four touchdowns without committing a turnover, heaved the ball into the stands after taking a knee on the final play. “It doesn’t get any better than this right now,” Grossman said. “I’m excited about the position we’re in right now. We’ve got one more win before we can call ourselves world champions.”

The Bears took the ball away four times and outrushed the Saints 196-56. Thomas Jones set a franchise playoff record by rushing for 123 yards on 19 carries and scored two TDs just as he did in last Sunday’s divisional playoff win over the Seahawks. Cedric Benson added 60 yards and 1 TD on 24 attempts.
