(Best Syndication) The seatbelt could have saved Nichole Kidman from serious injury as her Jaguar crashed into a poll while filming the movie “Invasion” in a Los Angeles business district Thursday morning. The Daily Telegraph describes the car as going “out of control.” The car swung around a corner and slammed into a light post. The accident occurred at about 1 AM. (see Video Below)

The car was being towed by a stunt truck as it crashed sending glass, car parts and stuntmen flying through the air. Several of the stuntmen were injured as they portrayed “zombies” clinging to the top of the car. The film is loosely based on the classic horror flick “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”.

Although Kidman was able to walk away from the accident, she later was sent to the hospital to be examined. Right after the accident she was pulled from the car and walked over to the other side of the street. Kidman and the stuntmen were examined by a non-paramedic fire crew before she went back to her trailer. Later she decided to go to a local hospital.

The car was traveling approximately 45 miles per hour (mph) or 75 km/h as it turned the corner and hit the pole. Kidman appeared to be dazed as she walked across the street. She was taken to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was released two hours later, according to her publicist, Catherine Olim.

Police spokesperson Karen Smith said that the seatbelt likely saved her life. "The stunt driver apparently went off course and hit a light post at about 1am," Smith Said. Eight people, including Kidman, were taken to the hospital.

A Warner Brothers spokesperson said Kidman was examined by paramedics before being taken to the hospital, according to the Telegraph. The TMZ website said they were not paramedics. The hospital visit was called a "walk-in and walk-out visit". Footage of the crash shot by paparazzi showed the actress gingerly walking away from the accident.
