Best and Worse Dressed at the Oscars

Rachel Weisz

This years Academy Awards showed off some beautiful fashions and a few not so exciting outfits. The gowns were overall wonderful with a few that stood out.

The worst:

Kirsten Dunst didn’t do herself justice. She chose a vintage Chanel silver grey gown that made her look even more pale, her lipstick stood out while her hair lacked in matching her dress. The bottom of the gown had feathers fluffed out. It would have looked awesome if she had more hair and if was reddish color. She needed more color either in the gown or in her hair as she appears washed out.

Anne Hathaway over did the bow thing. The gown she wore was by Valentino. Too much black and too much white in this gown, it made her look washed out and pale. She could have worn the same dress if the white was a dark red. I think that the extreme contrast of black and white wasn’t flattering for her.

Some people loved it, but maybe it was a bit much, Nicole Kidman wore a Balenciaga gown that had a large bow on the shoulder that trailed all the way on the ground. Depending on the angle you looked at her you got to wondering what that was on her shoulder.

They were ok:

Jennifer Hudson wore chocolate brown Oscar De La Renta gown. While the gown really made her full figure look terrific, the caplet jacket did not look like it belonged with the gown. The jacket she could have done without.

Beyonce wore a Armani Prive gown. This gown complimented her and gave you a feel like she was ready for the beach afterwards.

Meryl Streep gets excused from this fashion critic. She came relaxed and dressed comfortable. Totally understandable, she showed off her confidence in herself by being herself.

The best:

Cate Blanchett definitely got it right. She dressed up by wearing a silver crystal-mesh Giorgio Armani Privé gown. At the bottom of the gown was jeweled and the side shoulder was as well. This gown was elegant and offered enough glamour but at the same time was not over done. Her hair was tucked neatly back and she looked well put together.

Reese Witherspoon looked great with her long straight hair and her dark violet colored Nina Ricci gown. The tiered gown faded to a light violet at the last tier. She was very confident as she walked down the red carpet.

Rachel Weisz wore satin Vera Wang gown that made her look great. The color was a perfect match for her dark hair.
