Fantastic Four

(Best Syndication) The movie “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” (See Movie Trailer Below) hit it big at the box office this weekend, knocking off “Oceans Thirteen”. In the newest adaptation from the Marvel comics, an interstellar Surfer has come to Earth with a tail of shattered planets in his wake.

The galactic visitor has a polished metallic skin and actually rides in on a space-faring surf board. The movie has some great special effects and moments of comedy. The film stars Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm. There is a cameo by longtime Marvel editor and driving force Stan Lee.

Although life was getting back to normal after the death of Dr. Doom, it didn’t remain that way for long. The peace was shattered and the wedding plans between Reed Richards and Sue Storm were interrupted when the Silver Surfer and Galactus show up.

The Fantastic Four not only have to deal with these new comers, they have to deal with the return of Dr. Doom as well. After the Silver Surfer is sent to Earth by Galactus, he soon discovers that he must contend with the Fantastic Four first.

The movie “Ocean’s 13” (See Movie Trailer Below) fell to the second spot this weekend. In this third installment of the saga, one of their own, Reuben Tishkoff builds a hotel and casino but is cut out of the deal by the abhorrent Willy Banks (played by Al Pacino). Danny Ocean (George Clooney) brings back the crew to take revenge on Banks.

The comedy “Knocked Up” (See Movie Trailer Below) jumped ahead of “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” this weekend. The movie stars Seth Rogen as a slob who ends up meeting a beautiful young lady played by Katherine Heigl. Their one-night stand leads to a pregnancy. The couple has very little in common which leads to some funny situations. Even that does not stop the two from trying to make some sort of relationship work.
