(Best Syndication) Few saw the warning signs of Owen Wilson’s mental condition, but there could have been some triggers before his attempted suicide. The 40 year old “Wedding Crashers” star was rushed by ambulance to the hospital after a family member found him in the bathroom with a slit on his wrist and a near empty bottle of pills. It was reported that his brother Andrew called for the paramedics.

Wilson was later transferred from Santa Monica to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where his condition was upgraded from serious to good. On Monday the star issued a statement to the press concerning his condition: "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

He may have been troubled over lost love, according to a report from the TV tabloid “Extra”. The ultimate happy go lucky guy may have become distressed when he saw his ex, Kate Hudson, with her new boyfriend Jack Sheppard, kissing on the cover of a magazine at a grocery store just miles from his home. Within hours he was discovered on the floor of his bathroom suffering from an apparent overdose.

Samuel L Jackson came to the hospital to visit Wilson on Monday. Who knew they were friends? The TMZ website reports that Jackson was taken “aback by paparazzi presence”. Owens’s brothers, Luke and Andrew, also visited him at the hospital.

Owen has been filming a new comedy called “Drillbit Taylor”. He plays a hired body guard for three helpless high school teenagers who are being bullied. In the film he is known as Drillbit Taylor. It is expected to be released on March 21 2008.
