FREE and Legal Music - SpiralFrog Download Service Coming this winter
|
An unexpected announcement from the music industry, Universal Music Group (UMG) and SpiralFrog will work together to provide free legal downloads of their complete and extensive music catalog. Artists include U2, Pete Townshend, Roots, Tanya Tucker, and Diana Ross just to name a few artists. This service is being offered in the US and Canada. SpiralFrog will support its free music download service with advertising tie-ins on their website.
"Offering young consumers an easy-to-use alternative to pirated music sites will be compelling," said Robin Kent, SpiralFrog's CEO. "SpiralFrog will offer those consumers a better experience and environment than they can get from any pirate site."
The popularity of SpiralFrog should be an instant hit as pirate sites often have files that have viruses or spyware attached with the download. This allows for not only good quality audio downloads, easy to find popular artist’s music titles, but none of those pesky viruses.
SpiralFrog also wants to improve the situation for their partners as well as the recording artists. The advertising will support the cost of delivering the free music downloads to the consumer.
“We believe SpiralFrog will deliver an audience we highly desire and need to reach,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, Vice-Chairman, President and COO at Perry Ellis International, Inc. “Our audience is heavily into music and can be more easily reached on the web. We see SpiralFrog as an ideal place for us to communicate and build lasting relationships with our core audience and which give us unique new revenue opportunities.”
The beta version of SpiralFrog will be launched later on this year.
