San Bernardino County Fires And Evacuations – Locations of Fire and Directions – Slide Green Valley Running Springs Blazes

Estimates of Fire Location

(Best Syndication) There is good news and bad news on the fire situation here in San Bernardino County. From the Best Syndication news room in Pinon Hills we see smoke covering the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains (See Map Below). We spoke to Jeff Grove of the U.S. Forest Service at around 3:30 PM Tuesday, and he told us that the Cajon Wildland Fire is 100 percent contained and is in mop-up stages. There were no reports of structures lost, and the fire was contained to grass and brush.

But the “Slide Wildfire” near Running Springs (See Map Below) is consuming timber and homes. Grove told me that there have been 100 structures lost, and most of them were lost last night. This fire started north of HWY 18 but has jumped the mountain highway west of Running Springs.

The Slide Fire has also jumped HWY 330 near Smiley Park (See Map Below). There are mandatory evacuations for Green Valley Lake, Arrowbear, and Running Springs. Fire has crossed Hwy 18 in Running Springs. Evacuation Center is located at National Orange Show in San Bernardino. The Jerry Lewis Community Center is now closed and residents are urged to use the National Orange Show in San Bernardino as an evacuation center. The address is National Orange Show, 689 S E St, San Bernardino, CA 92408 (see map).

There are at least 4,000 acres burned and 500 fire personnel on location for the Slide Fire. The fire is burning towards Running Springs, according to Jeff.

Fire crews are working another fire near Lake Arrowhead (See Map below). The Forest Service has dubbed this fire the “Grass Valley Wildland Fire”. Firefighters are currently fighting the blaze near the Fairway and Grandview areas, according to Jeff with the Forest Service.

The “Grass Valley” fire has consumed at least 1,000 acres and is moving south towards Twin Peaks and Lake Gregory. There are mandatory evacuations for North Lake Arrowhead and Grass Valley (North of the Lake Arrowhead Dam on SR 173 and areas north of Hwy 189), All of Twin Peaks has been ordered to evacuate. Since the fire is moving towards Rim Forest, Crestline and Lake Gregory, these areas are being evacuated or have already been.

Jeff told me that all areas west of Arrowhead Lake and North of 189 are being evacuated. There are voluntary evacuations for the Remainder of Lake Arrowhead, Cedar Glen, Cedar Pines Park and Valley of Enchantment. Highway 18 is closed from 40th / Waterman to the Big Bear Dam. State Highway 330 is closed at Highland to Hwy 18 and State Highway 138 is closed at State Highway 173.
