Microsoft’s Zune Music Player Product Now Shipping

This Tuesday retailers across the US started selling the Microsoft Zune music player. The new music player is set to compete against Microsoft iPod music players. The investment in a new player and brand loyalty, may be why it was not a sell out on the first day.

The specifications offer up to 14 hours of music play time and up to 4 hours of pictures displayed, and up to 4 hours of watching video. It takes 3 hours to recharge the battery fully.

The display on the Zune player is 3 inches with a resolution of 320x240 pixels. Picture support is up to 640x480 in a jpeg and WMV image formats, while video is at 320x240 and uses MPEG-4 and H.264 video formats. The Zune comes with 30GB hard drive. Zune stores up to 7,500 songs, 25,000 pictures or 100 hours of video. The Zune supports MP3, WMA and ACC audio formats.

Share your files via a wireless sharing feature. You can also either subscribe to Zune Pass for unlimited downloads, or you can pick and chose the songs you would like and pay as you go. If you share a song with another person, they can listen to the song 3 times over a 3 day period. If they like the song they can flag it and purchase the song later.

The Zune player has a built in FM radio receiver so you can also listen to your favorite local broadcast station.

Brown, black, and white colors are available to customize your Zune music player.
