(Best Syndication) The raw food diet is becoming increasingly popular, not just with celebrities but also "regular people". They are beginning to see how a raw food diet can dramatically improve the way you look and feel as well as extending your life expectancy.

By reading on you'll discover some of the benefits of a raw food eating plan but you'll also get some useful meal plan ideas and recipes which might just encourage you to give this diet a go for the good of your health. At least this way you'll know what to expect if you decide to give the raw food diet a go. That way, you can decide if it is something you'd like to look into a little further.

A raw food diet is said to:

1 - Increase life expectancy

2 - Improve the appearance of your skin

3 - Reduce their risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes

4 - Give you more energy and vitality

5 - Help you to control your weight naturally without the need to count calories, points or grams of fat

Don't freak out thinking you'll be chewing on raw meat like some prehistoric being. The raw food diet is vegetarian. Your diet will consist of a selection of fruits, vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, whole unprocessed grains, unpasteurized dairy products and freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices.

This may seem limited at first but if you think about it you can get plenty of variety within these parameters. Some of the dishes do take a little while to prepare, though, so think ahead, like with this recipe for vegetables topped with raw vegetable sauce:

Cut zucchini into long, thin slices. In a food processor, blend 1 pound of fresh tomatoes, ½ a chopped white onion, basil, 1 clove of minced garlic, chopped and seeded red pepper with a couple of teaspoons of natural pizza seasoning. After blending, pour over the zucchini strips and enjoy!

Like with any diet, a raw food eating plan can be made as simple or as complicated as you wish. A typical day's menu might be:

1 - Breakfast:

Raw fruit juices or whole fruits, as much as you want! If you are very active in the morning, you can have a nut shake instead (raw soaked almonds, pepitas, water, flax seed oil, banana).

2 - Mid–morning or afternoon snack:

A handful of raw nuts or half an avocado with some unprocessed honey.

3 - Lunch:

Salad, with salad greens making up the main part, added to which you might have vegetables ranging from cucumber to red peppers. Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for tang and added interest.

4 - Dinner:

Spinach salad with 10-20 almonds, and 1-2 avocados. Squeeze orange juice over it for a dressing. Serve this with freshly squeezed fruit or vegetable juice.

This should have shown you that a raw food diet can be delicious. Sure, it takes some planning, but that can be said of any diet worth eating.

If you are interested in looking after your health and increasing your energy levels and maybe even living longer, why not give the raw food diet a go?
