[Best Syndication News] The Democratic National Convention is happening this week, and Jennifer Hudson, will be singing the national anthem on Thursday when Barack Obama will accept his presidential nomination. Hudson is also a native from Chicago, Illinois.

Hudson first got noticed as a contestant on ‘American Idol’ but only made it to be the 6th finalist. Her talent was evident on the show and this gave her another great opportunity to land the role of Effie White in the film version of the musical “Dreamgirls.” She won an academy award for best supporting actress in this film.

What has Jennifer Hudson been up to lately?

Besides singing for the Democratic National Convention this week, she has been working on an album that is scheduled to be released on September 30th. The album is being called “Jennifer Hudson.”

She also has been acting again. This time she is acting with Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning in the film, "The Secret Life of Bees." This film will be out in theaters on October 17th.
