[Best Syndication News] The executives at Disney Channel have announced that they will not be airing the “Hannah Montana” episode called “No Sugar, Sugar” which focuses on a teen with diabetes.

While they took precautions in getting approval from medical experts, it was parents that got early previews by SVOD and by mobile media platforms that complained about the topic of diabetes being covered on the show.

At this time the execs at Disney Channel decided to not air the episode that was schedule for this Sunday. They will re-evaluate the episode first before airing it.

In the episode Hannah Montana has a friend named Oliver that has diabetes. There are two kinds of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. Type 1 the pancreas fails to make insulin and is seen in people that are usually under the age of 35 years of age. Type 2 is more common in older overweight individuals, but has been also seen in children as well.

While sugar can increase blood sugar levels, so can any carbohydrate. A diabetic person must have a dietary routine that measures the amount of carbohydrates, proteins and fat eaten during the day. In Type 1 Diabetes, Insulin is given so energy can be delivered to the cells. In Type 2 medication may be prescribed to help increase insulin sensitivity and also to block the absorption of carbohydrates into the body.
