Chargers Lose To Steelers In Final Seconds

Snowing at Heinz Field

(Best Syndication News) The San Diego Chargers lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the final seconds of Sunday’s snowy and blistering cold game. It all came down to a 32-yard field goal by Jeff Reed after a 6 minute 30 second march down the field running down the clock to just 11 seconds. Reed had to hit it.

The win put the Steelers in the top spot of the AFC North after the Ravens lost to the Giants. They did it with Rothlisberger completing 31-for-41 passing for 308 yards bringing their record to 7-3. But Reed scored the points in this game hitting three field goals. James Harrison was also credited with a safety at Heinz field.

“We faced some adversity, some adverse situations throughout the game,” said head coach Mike Tomlin said after the game. “I thought that this was just a great team effort. Defensively, of course, we made significant plays; particularly early on that kept us in the football game. The sequence just prior to halftime was big-time.

San Diego struggled with Philip Rivers completing 15-of-26 passes for 162 yards. Rivers was intercepted twice while LaDainian Tomlinson led in rushing and receiving. He earned 100 yards and a score with 18 carries and three receptions.

“Obviously we are going to continue to struggle a little bit until we become consistent in short yardage and goal-line,” Tomlin said. “We have to be able to run the ball effectively on people in those situations. We will remain un-waivered with the standards in regards to that.”
