Up ahead the bicyclist will have to climb the Alps and the extremely difficult Mont Ventoux during the last week of the race. On July 13th, 1967 rider Tom Simpson had died of heart failure caused from the steep climb up Mont Ventoux.
The three week race across France and neighboring countries will end on July 26th in Paris. The bicycle race spans approximately a distance of 2,200 miles. Every year the course changes slightly which can change the distance of the race, but it always traditionally ends in Paris, France.
