[Best Syndication News] The winner of the eighth stage of the Tour de France this Saturday was Spain's Luis Leon Sanchez. This portion of the bicycle race was from Andorra to St. Girons and was 109.6 miles in distance.

Finishing in third place for this stretch of the race was United States favorite, seven-time champion Lance Armstrong, winning the Tour de France in 1999 and each year following through 2006.

You can follow Lance Armstrong on Twitter as he makes competes in the Tour de France at

Last year's winner of the Tour de France was Carlos Sastre who is from Spain.

Up ahead the bicyclist will have to climb the Alps and the extremely difficult Mont Ventoux during the last week of the race. On July 13th, 1967 rider Tom Simpson had died of heart failure caused from the steep climb up Mont Ventoux.

The three week race across France and neighboring countries will end on July 26th in Paris. The bicycle race spans approximately a distance of 2,200 miles. Every year the course changes slightly which can change the distance of the race, but it always traditionally ends in Paris, France.
