[Best Syndication News] The CSPI released a report of the top 10 foods regulated by the FDA that have the highest risk of making you sick from being contaminated with things like salmonella and ecol i bacteria. These top ten foods according to the report has caused 50,000 reported illnesses.

The Top Ten Foods regulated by the FDA that are at the Highest Risk for getting you Sick are:

1.Leafy Greens
7.Ice Cream

Ironically, the foods that are high risk for contamination are some of the healthiest foods that are being consumed by the US population.

The Food Safety Enhancement Act was passed in July by the House of Representatives that give the FDA authority to require food processors to develop and put in place food safety plans that growers would need to meet and the FDA would be required to visit high risk facilities would be inspected every 12 months or more. If the foods are not on the highest risk food the FDA would inspect every 3-4 years. The Senate is also working on similar legislation that is pending approval.

The CSPI organization have the report available online with the details of the number of outbreaks for each of the different foods that made the list.
