Home Sales improving Slowly in December from Previous Year Numbers

[BestSyndication News] The National Association of Realtors released a report today saying that annual sales for homes improved in 2009 with 5,156,000 existing home sales. This was up 4.9 percent from the previous year of 4,913,000 home for sale.

This has been the first signs of recovery for the real estate market with gains that hasn't been seen annually since 2005.

The national median existing home price for all housing for the month of December 2009 was $178,300.

The real estate market is still recovering and there was 32 percent of the sales last month that came from distressed properties.

In the Midwest the existing home sales fell 25.8 percent in December, but is still 8.5 percent higher than the previous time in 2008. The median price for the Midwest is $143,200.

The South has sales drop by 16.2 percent for the existing home sales in December but was 15.5 percent higher than a year ago in 2008. The median price in the South is $152,000.

The West saw a decline of 4.8 percent in December but was 15 percent higher than in December 2008. The median home price in the West was $236,000. This was up 2.7 percent from December of 2008.
