Apolo Ohno won 6 Olympic Medals in Speed Skating Career – Adding a Silver Medal for the 1500 Meter Race

[Best Syndication News] Remember Apolo Ohno from 'Dancing with the Stars'? Well Ohno, and dance partner Julianne Hough went on to win season 4 and become the champions of dance. That was 2007, now in 2010 Ohno has achieved another accomplishment with his speed skating by winning a total of six Olympic medals in his career, making it a tie with Bonnie Blair for winning the most career medals at the Olympic Winter Games by an American.

Everybody is thrilled with his accomplishment. But he did have to prepare for the 2010 Winter Olympics by losing around 20 pounds of weight. He accomplished this a 3-a-day training program combined with a strict diet over five months.

Ohno's hard work has paid off, so far he has won a silver medal for the 1500 metres speed skating race for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Apolo got his name from his father used greek words of "Ap," which means to "steer away from" and "lo," which means "look out; here he comes.” Who would have guessed that he would go on to be a speed skater when he grew up.
