Chicken Nugget Recall – Walmart's GreatValue Brand could contain Plastic Pieces
(Best Syndication News) - Perdue Farms has announced a voluntary recall of their “Great Value” brand of chicken nuggets because of the possibility of the chicken nuggets containing plastic pieces. The chicken nugget recall includes around 91,872 pounds of the fully cooked meat. The chicken nuggest were sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide.
To see if your chicken nuggets are involved in the recall. They should have the Great Value Brand on the packaging and they have the "Best If Used By Date" of June 9, 2011. There is also the numbers "89008" which is then followed by “A” and numbers “0160”. These numbers and letters are printed on the back of the packaging. There is also an establishment number of “P-33944.” All other Great value chicken products and other Perdue branded products are not involved in this chicken nugget recall.
The chances for discovering plastic in the recalled chicken nuggets is very unlikely. The company reports that a small plastic ring got into the raw meat before the nuggets were formed. Because of the small amount of bright blue plastic there is very little risk for coming across this problem, but the company wanted to recall all the packages out of extreme caution.
If you have the recalled chicken nuggets the company is asking consumers to return the product to Walmart stores for a full refund. If you have any questions about the recall you can contact Perdue Farms at 1-877-727-3447.
