(Best Syndication News) - Lead author, researcher Carl-Étienne Juneau who is from the Université de Montréal found a link between a higher rate of obesity with office workers which might be contributing to the obesity epidemic. The new study was first published in the online edition of Preventive Medicine.

The research looked at a Canadian database of statistics of the health of 17,000 to 132,000 individuals. Based on this information the researchers found that a 10 percent increase of obesity in the population from 1978 and 2004 because of the lack of physical activity in the office workplace environment.

Juneau suggests that in order to improve physical activity in the office workers they might want to try to spread their activity throughout the day. For instance, take a walk during a break or use the stairs instead of the elevator.

There are also several 10 minute workout DVD programs that can be utilized. But before starting any exercise routine you should always check in with your doctor to make sure that you can do it safely.
