May Day Demonstrations

(Best Syndication News) May Day marches are planned for today, turning some streets in the downtown areas into arenas for demonstration. The day has several meanings around the world, including a day for workers, socialists, anarchists and other activist groups.

In California there are marches planned for Los Angeles. Organizers are primarily concerned about immigration reform. The Los Angeles Police Department says there will be another “Rally for Full Legalization”.

“It is the goal of the Department to facilitate lawful public demonstrations in the City of Los Angeles”, the department said in a statement.

The LAPD says there were two Special Event Permits approved for the day. One event began at 6:00 a.m. in the area of Broadway Avenue and Olympic Boulevard. The march will be at noon.

Another event will be held begin at 12:30 pm. A march will be held from Broadway and 11th Street to Broadway and 4th Street.

Expect street closures in those areas.
