Mary Tyler Moore Surprises Everyone on Rachael Ray Show
(Best Syndication News) Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke were on the Rachael Ray show discussing their antics on The Dick Van Dyke Show. Van Dyke was reminiscing about the first time they met when the 74-year old Moore made a surprise entrance.
They recreated the 1970s set and reminisced. Van Dyke said that he might have been a little in-love with Moore back when they were on the show; but in those days they didn’t act on their mutual attraction.
The star of “Ordinary People” was rumored to have a benign tumor called meningioma. Back in July of 2007, the Globe broke the story. Moore’s representative now tells People Magazine that the star will undergo surgery to remove the growth. They are calling the procedure “fairly routine.”
Meningioma is the second most common primary neoplasm (brain tumor) of the central nervous system. These tumors are usually benign, but can be malignant.
Meningioma is sometime inherited but it is also more common in people who have undergone radiation on the scalp.
The growths can be seen on contrast CT and MRI. Not all tumors continue to grow. Of the tumors discovered, 63 percent of the patients had no growth on the follow-up visit.
Surgery is usually a permanent cure if the tumor is on the surface and is easily accessible. If the tumor invades the adjacent bone, total removal is nearly impossible.
Small tumors may not cause symptoms. As the tumor grows patients may experience focal seizures and progressive spastic weakness in the legs. Meningioma may cause myriad motor, sensory and seizure symptoms.
