Earnings Reports for Wednesday - Dollar General DG VImpelCom VIP Copart CPRT ESL and GAME

(Best Syndication News) Several companies will be releasing their earnings statements today.

Today VimpelCom Ltd (ADR) (NYSE:VIP) released their earnings statement for the quarter ending March 31 2011. The worldwide provider of telecommunications services said their net operating revenues increased 23 percent year-to-year.

Their basic earnings per share (eps) was 46 cents.

Vera Bradley, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRA) will release their first quarter results after the market closes today. The Street expects an eps of 27 cents. The company announced two executive promotions today.

Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:DG) will be announcing their first quarter earnings today. The share price was up 0.41 (+1.18%) to $35.07. In after-hours the share price rose another 23 cents.

Jessica Wohl with Reuters said that hedge funds are jumping into the discount stores. They see them as a “bargain”. Some of the retailers, including Dollar General, Family Dollar Stores Inc (FDO.N) and Big Lots Inc (BIG.N) were ripe take-over targets.

The Street is expecting an eps of 50 cents.

Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) will present their Q3 2011 earnings today. The Street is expecting 70 cents per share. Copart closed up 0.54 (1.16%) to $47.00. The online auction company is worth $3.3 billion with a P/E of 25.30. They will report after the market closes today.

Esterline Technologies Corporation (NYSE:ESL) will release their Q2 earnings statement today. The share price was up 0.99 (1.33%) to $75.62. The engineering firm has a market cap of $2.3 billion and a P/E of 15.65. Analysts expect the company to post $1.10 earnings per share.

Shanda Games Limited (ADR) (NASDAQ:GAME) released their Q1 2011 results today. The online gaming company (China) said they had 8 cents earnings per ordinary share. The Street expected 17 cents.

The company said their earnings fell 4.9 percent on higher operating costs. They said their adjusted profits exceeded expectations. “We are well positioned to enter into a much broader market and remain one of the most innovative and forward thinking companies in the online games industry over the long term,” said Mr. Alan Tan, Chairman and CEO of Shanda Games.
