Toshiba Thrive Tablet arrives at Retailers – Features and Accessories Overview

(Best Syndication News) - The Toshiba Thrive Tablet has made it to retailers this week. The tablet utilizes the Google Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) operating system and has a large 10.1-inch display. The tablet can access the Internet via Wi-Fi, so there is no subscription service plans needed when buying the tablet. There is a 8GB Thrive Tablet retailing for around $430, a 16GB version, which is selling for around $480, and a 32GB version that is retailing for $580.

There is a 10.1 inch (measured diagonally) 1280x800-pixel graphic display resolution. The tablet has mulit-touch capability and backlit LED. The display makes it easier to see at more angles allowing multiple people to see the tablet display at the same time. Toshiba is using their Adaptive Display and Resolution+®3 video enhancement technologies, which is exclusive to them.

The Thrive Tablet has two cameras; a 2 megapixel front-facing webcam, and a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera. The speakers are stereo and uses Toshiba and SRS Labs technology to make the sound enhanced for entertainment and video conferencing.

Sensors built in the Thrive tablet are a Gyroscope and Accelerometer. These sensors will change the display formatting when rotated, and can be used in some apps as controls.
The tablet has a built in Swype™ technology virtual keyboard which works on the touch screen display. However, there is an optional wireless Bluetooth technology keyboard that is supported and is available as an extra accessory to purchase separately.

Toshiba File Manager and PrinterShare™ comes preloaded on the Thrive Tablet. The PrinterShare software will make it easier to print from the tablet a printer. Also loaded on the tablet is five customizable home pages. The tablet has Google mobile apps such as YouTube™, Gmail™, Google Maps™, Music, Videos and more. This tablet has connection to the Android Market to purchase apps.

The Thrive tablet has and SD Card Slot for extra storage. There is also USB 2.0 ports and HDMI connector for use with other electronic devices. There is a removable battery pack with means that if the battery is worn out you can replace it when needed. Being able to access the battery is also handy to have an extra back up battery ready to go when you do not want to have to get plugged into an outlet.

For fashion conscious people you can personalize the tablet with a removable back cover. The back covers are available for $19.99 each in the colors of Blue Moon, Raspberry Fusion, Lavender Bliss, Silvery Sky and Green Apple. To keep the tablet protected there is the Portfolio 360 Case accessory, which has a MSRP of $59.99.

The Toshiba Multi-Dock with HDMI accessory has a MSRP of $59.99. The recharging dock, also allows for fast connection to a LCD monitor or HDTV. The dock also has two USB 2.0 ports that will allow for connecting a hard drive or a keyboard. In addition, a 3.5 mm stereo audio port will allow for the use of either external speakers or headphones. The AC adapter that comes with the tablet is used for the Multi-Dock. There is a less expensive Toshiba Standard Dock with Audio Out accessory available with a MSRP of $39.99. The Standard Dock does not have the USB or HDMI ports.
