Oprah Winfrey takes on leadership positions at OWN beginning this Fall
(Best Syndication News) - Oprah Winfrey will be taking on the jobs of chief executive officer and chief creative officer at the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) beginning this fall. The announcement was made today from Discovery Communications who is in partnership with Oprah Winfrey for the OWN cable TV channel.
Oprah Winfrey ended her popular daytime talk show ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ this past May after being on the air for 25 years. Harpo Studios, which is Oprah Winfrey’s production company for the daytime talk show will now be working on TV shows exclusively for the OWN cable channel for any future productions.
Harpo Productions Inc. will be producing ‘Rosie’, which will premiere in October. In January 2012, ‘Oprah Presents Master Class,’ ‘In the Bedroom with Dr. Laura Berman,’ and ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ will also be produced by Harpo and is scheduled to air on the OWN channel.
Oprah Winfrey said in a statement,
"I am ready to dedicate my full creative energy and focus as the full time CEO of OWN. By aligning the mission, talent and leadership of Erik, Sheri, the OWN team, the Harpo team, along with expertise of David Zaslav, Peter and all of Discovery behind us, we can unleash the full potential of the network."
