Pfizer recalls 14 lots of Birth Control Pills

Pfizer Lo/Ovral - 28 Oral Contraceptive packaging - FDA

(Best Syndication News) - The US Food and Drug Administartion (FDA), along with Pfizer Inc., announced the voluntary recall of 14 lots of Lo/Ovral - 28 and Norgestrel / Ethinyl Estradiol pills because the sequence could be wrong, and therefore may not protect against pregnancy.

Women who may have the recalled oral contraceptive pills should return them to the pharmacist and contact their doctor. The FDA suggests that in the meantime to use an alternative non-hormonal birth control method to prevent pregnancy.

The lot numbers, expirations dates, and product NDC numbers are listed on the FDA website.

The expiration dates range between 07/31/2013 and 03/31/2014 and were sold in 6 Pillpacks of 28 count each. The NDC code for the Norgestrel / Ethinyl Estradiol 28-count pills is 24090-961-84. The NDC code for the Lo / Ovral 28 count birth control pills is 24090-801-84.
