Jay-Z and Beyonce's Child’s Name to be Trademarked

(Best Syndication News) On January 7th, 2012, Beyonce and Jay-Z had their first child, Blue Ivy. It caused a small amount of controversy when Beyonce reportedly took the whole maternity ward over to give birth to her daughter. She also was given a pretty unique name, and there is a pretty small chance that anyone else has that name.

Someone has already tried to patent her name. A designer named Joseph Mbeh tried to patent a brand for children’s clothing, “Blue Ivy Carter NYC”, just four days after the child was born. Another person tried to trademark her name to make a line of fragrances.

Beyonce and Jay-Z decided to file a trademark for the name “Blue Ivy Carter.” It will likely be accepted, according to trademark experts, since it is legal to trademark a minor child’s name.

There may be a problem though. There was a store in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin called “Blue Ivy”, and the name “Blue Ivy” was trademarked last year in August. They filed for the trademark in January 2011, before Beyonce was even pregnant with the child.
