Audi A3 e-tron - Audi

(Best Syndication News) - A new Audi A3 e-tron pilot program will be launched in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Denver markets. The announcement was made by Audi at the TED2012 conference that is going on in Long Beach, California this week.

The automaker will be investigating real world driving scenarios using the A3 e-tron electric vehicles. By driving in urban environments they can measure how well the e-tron technology functions. Audi engineering teams in the US and in Germany will analyze the yearlong pilot program.

Audi has also been working on the A2 concept electric vehicle, which is designed with the piloted drive technology for use in stop-and-go traffic. The Audi e-gas project is another initiative that has the goal to harness electricity from wind turbines that are located offshore to be used by vehicles for power. Additionally, the e-gas project is also investigating hydrogen and methane fuel sources of energy for automobiles.

Audi is at the TED2012 conference to help spark conversations pertaining to the future of automobiles and for finding solutions for a carbon-neutral future.

The Audi A3 e-tron model will use a fully electric power train that is powered by a 26kw lithium-ion battery. The vehicle itself does not create carbon emissions. The battery driving range is around 90 miles. The top speed of the vehicle is 90 mph. The interior space remains roomy as with the other versions of the vehicle.
