Congressman Says Federal Government is Operating on Unsustainable Deficits

(Best Syndication News) Representative Buck McKeon (R-CA) said this week that the federal deficit is out of control and unsustainable. The congressman said that the new 2013 budget proposal by Chairman Paul Ryan could put America back on track.

“We are facing the most predictable crisis in U.S. history”, McKeon tells Best Syndication. “The federal government is consistently operating on unsustainable deficits, we have a dangerous $15 trillion and climbing national debt, and absent reform, it is a mathematical impossibility for government programs to fulfill their promises in the 21st century.”

Opponents of Ryan’s budget say there are too many cuts in foreign aid and not enough cuts in defense. The plan calls for $554 billion for defense, nearly $30 billion more than President Barack Obama requested in February. Critics also say the proposal wouldn’t balance the budget for decades

Ryan and McKeon are also calling for tax cuts. McKeon says the tax reforms would spur job creation and economic opportunity by “lowering rates, closing loopholes, and putting hardworking taxpayers ahead of special interests.”

White House senior adviser David Plouffe called the new Paul Ryan budget the "Romney-Ryan plan."

“It will be rubber-stamped if Mitt Romney is elected president. It fails the test of balance, and fairness and shared responsibility," Plouffe told Fox News. "It showers huge tax cuts on millionaires and billionaires, paid for by seniors and veterans."

But McKeon disagrees. The Congressman said the plan tackles the drivers of our debt while not hurting the troops.
