Office Depot Brand Black Leather Chair Recall announced for a potential Weld Breaking
(Best Syndication News) - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of Office Depot® Brand Biella Leather Desk Chairs, because the weld that holds the seat plate to the gas lift of the chair could break and cause a person to fall.
Office Deport received 11 reports of the chair breaking at the weld, which caused people to fall when they were sitting in the chairs. The company said that injuries involved minor contusions and abrasions.
Because of this problem, consumers who have the recalled chairs should stop using them. Office Depot is offering a $55 store gift card or an exchange for a similar product.
The company sold around 307,000 of these chairs in the U.S. and around 12,000 chairs in Canada. The Office Depot® Brand Biella Leather Desk Chairs were sold exclusively at their stores nationwide and online at www.OfficeDepot.com for around $55. They were sold between January 2002 and December 2008.
The chairs have a mid-back height and have black leather upholstery. The SKU number is 130548 and there is a label underneath the seat that says, “REG. No. PA-25498 (CN)” and “Made in China.”
Consumers who have the recalled chairs are instructed to stop using them and contact Office Depot’s toll-free recall hotline at (866) 403-3763 (8 am – 8 pm ET M-F), or by visiting their online website at http://www.officedepot.com/customerservice/errata.do.
