A 6.9 magnitude earthquake shakes Baja California, Mexico

(Best Syndication News) - The US Geological Survey recorded a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Baja California, Mexico at 12:15:48 AM local time to the event this Thursday morning. Preceding this earthquake just minutes earlier, at 12:06:01 AM local time, was a 6.2 magnitude earthquake in the same area.

The 6.2 magnitude earthquake was located at 28.841°N, 113.072°W, while the 6.9 magnitude earthquake's location was at 28.790°N, 113.142°W. There have been a few aftershocks of 4.2, 4.4, and 4.9 magnitude ratings.

Residents in the city of San Luis reported the 6.9 magnitude as being strong and having some light to moderate damage to property. People as far away as San Diego reported feeling the tremor.

With sizable earthquake activity such as this there often is several aftershocks that can occur for the next day or two, and sometimes even longer.
