Shirley MacLaine to be presented with the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award

(Best Syndication News) - Shirley MacLaine will be receiving an American Film Institute's 40th Life Achievement Award during a private black-tie gala being held on June 7, 2012 at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City. Presenting the award to Shirley MacLaine will be Meryl Streep.

Streep was also a recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2004. The two actresses worked together on the 1990’s film, “Postcards From The Edge.” Streep played the part of MacLaine’s daughter in the film.

MacLaine has acted in over 50 feature films. She has won an Academy Award, and seven Golden Globe Awards. The actress also was nominated for several other Academy Awards, and Emmy awards. She also has been honored with a Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition to her long acting career, MacLaine has had successful careers as a songstress, author, director, and producer.

A special broadcast titled, "TV Land Presents: The AFI Life Achievement Award Honoring Shirley MacLaine" will air on the TV Land channel on June 24 at 9 pm ET/PT.
