AT&T U-Verse TV and Dish Network threaten to drop AMC Networks starting July 1

(Best Syndication News) - AT&T U-Verse TV announced that their contract with AMC Networks is due to expire at the end of the day on June 30, 2012. Another provider, Dish Network, also failed at negotiating an agreement and said that they will also end playing AMC Networks on their satellite service this weekend. If agreements can be reached, the AMC network of channels might stay put.

AT&T said that they have tried to negotiate a fair agreement to air the channels, which include AMC, IFC, and WE tv. AT&T also said that AMC Networks is asking almost twice as much as what other networks are paid.

AT&T is making a stand on these demands because they feel that other content providers will attempt to do the same by inflating prices. This has been a trend lately, with networks asking for a high increase just before the contract expires.

Dish Network was not going to go along with the price increase either. Dish moved the AMC channel to number 9609, which is far away from any of the regular channel lineup. The satellite company said that they would not be carrying AMC starting next month if the contract negations continue as they have been.

What does that mean; it could mean that AMC could lose AT&T U-Verse TV and Dish Network this weekend. Viewers will have to tune in on July 1st to see if the AMC is still there.
