Ann Curry replaced by Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s ‘TODAY’

TV Remote - BSN

(Best Syndication News) - A dramatic exit for Ann Curry as co-anchor happened on Thursday on NBC’s ‘TODAY’ TV show. On Friday, Savannah Guthrie was filling in for Curry’s co-anchor position on the TV show.

Curry gave a tearful goodbye on Thursday as she said she will no longer be co-anchor on the show. Curry will still be reporting, but has been deemed a reporter at large for the 'TODAY' show, and will also be a corresponding reporter for NBC News.

Guthrie has been co-hosting the 9 o’clock hour since August 2011. Guthrie also has been NBC's chief legal analyst. She has been with the network since 2007. She was officially introduced as the permanent replacement for Ann Curry on Friday’s show.

NBC lost ratings over the last year. Competitor, ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ managed to beat them in ratings this year for a few times.

Was it Curry’s fault that ratings fell? Or, was it that the tried and true format of the ‘TODAY’ show started to become stale and repetitive for viewers? I think that they have done so many of the same spots on fashion, cooking, and gadgets that it all started to become a bit boring.

Hopefully, Curry will bring a new found interest to the 'TODAY' TV show with her on location reporting and at the same time, maybe she will even have some fun at her new job.
