Audi Q5 recall announced for 2012 Model Year Vehicles

Audi vehicle recall - BSN

(Best Syndication News) - The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that certain 2012 Audi Q5 vehicles have been recalled because the sunroof glass panel could break under extreme temperature conditions. Volkswagen will be replacing the suspect sunroofs at no cost to the vehicle owners.

The vehicles were manufactured between June 21, 2011 and December 9, 2011. Around 13,172 cars are involved in this recall.

Because the sunroof glass could break unexpectedly, the NHTSA warns that the driver and passenger could be injured from the broken shards. Additionally, the sunroof falling on the driver while driving may distract him and cause the car to crash.

Volkswagen will begin to notify vehicle owners of the recall starting on or around August 7, 2012. They will have the owners take the vehicle to the nearest dealership to get a replacement glass installed in the sunroof at no cost.

Vehicle owners also can contact Volkswagen toll free at 1-800-822-8987.
