Chicco Polly High Chair Recall announced for Peg Cover Kit

(Best Syndication News) - Around 455,000 Chicco Polly high chairs in the US have been voluntarily recalled because there are some pegs that can cause lacerations or injuires if a child falls on them. An additional 30,690 high chairs are also involved in the recall in Canada. The company is offering consumers a free peg cover kit to remedy this problem. The announcement was made today by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The high chairs were sold between January 2005 and July 2012 at a cost between $100 and $150. They were sold at retailers nationwide, including Babies R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, Buy Buy Baby, Shopko and Toys R Us. The high chairs were also sold online at,,,, and

The importer, Artsana USA Inc., received 21 reports of children falling and hitting the peg in the rear legs. Four of the children had been cut from the injuries and required medical aid such as stitches to close the wound. One child received a scratched cornea from the defect.

There are 26 different model numbers involved in the recall. The pegs on the back of the legs are meant to be used to store the tray. The model number and date code are found on the underneath the seat near the footrest. The date codes are presented as DDMMYYYY (Day, Month, Year) or YYYY-MM-DD (Year, Month, Day). The high chairs involved in the recall have a date code that is before October 13, 2010.

Consumers who have the recalled high chairs are asked to contact Chicco to get a free peg cover kit. Until the kit can be installed, the tray should be stored on the pegs when not in use until the kit arrives in the mail.
