Former Google Exec appointed to CEO position at Yahoo!

(Best Syndication News) - Marissa Mayer has been appointed the position of President and Chief Executive Officer, and a Member of the Board of Directors at Yahoo! (NASDAQ:YHOO). The company announced that Mayer will be starting her new appointment on July 17, 2012.
Prior to working at Yahoo!, Mayer was an executive at Google and was in charge of the Local, Maps, and Location Services. Mayer started working at Google in 1999. She also helped launch over 100 features at Google, such as image, book, product search, toolbar, iGoogle, Google News, and Gmail.
Meg Whitman, president and CEO of HP acknowledged Mayer joining Yahoo!. Whitman released the following statement:
“Marissa is a great choice for Yahoo. She’s a talented and creative executive. Yahoo! is one of Silicon Valley’s great brands and I’m sure that Marissa’s leadership, intelligence and passion will guide them to a bright future.”
Yahoo! (NASDAQ:YHOO) shares closed today at $15.65, down 9 cents (-0.60%). However, in the afterhours trading the share price was up to $15.98, +0.33 (2.14%).
