(Best Syndication News) - Panasonic announced the features of their LUMIX DMC-SZ5 digital camera today. The new camera has Wi-Fi connectivity and a 10x optical zoom. Panasonic created the SZ5 so that it would be convenient like a Smartphone, but at the same time keep the photo quality expected with digital cameras.

Sharing family photos would be easier with this camera. Instead of having to plug in a cable, you could connect via Wi-Fi to share your memories on social networking websites such as Facebook or Picasa.

The camera can connect to a Smartphone device so the user would not need to find a Wi-Fi hotspot to share photos online. The Smartphone can also be used as a remote viewfinder for the camera when it is using the LUMIX LINK app. The app also lets the Smartphone user control the zoom, focus position, and tag location information of the camera. The software is available for iOS and Android devices.

The lens is a 25mm ultra-wide angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR. This lens, along with its 10x optical zoom, is great for taking a close-up as well as wide-angle photos. The CCD sensor is rated at 14.1 megapixels. The Sonic Speed AF (auto focus) is great for taking pictures on short notice.

Switching from taking still photos to video is as simple as a pushing a button. Video capture resolution is in HD at 1280x720 and 30p. The format is MP4, which is compatible with PC computers and many other portable devices.

There are image-processing features built in the LUMIX SZ5 camera. The special effects include a Miniature Effect mode, and Panorama Shot. There are also image filters such as brighten and contrast.

Panasonic has an exclusive cloud service called “LUMIX CLUB” that will streamline sending images and videos to Facebook™, Flickr™, Picasa™, Twitter™, or YouTube™ directly from the digital camera.

The LUMIX SZ5 will come in black or silver color. The price and availability have not yet been announced. Panasonic said that they would announce this 30 days before it is available for consumers.
