NBC collaborated with Adobe to create Mobile Apps to Live Stream the 2012 Olympic Games
(Best Syndication News) - The 2012 Olympics are scheduled to start on Friday, July 27, and will end on Sunday, August 12. NBC will be covering the sporting events on their TV network, but will also provide two mobile apps to watch them on the go. NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, had Adobe (Nasdaq:ADBE) build the two apps; NBC Olympics Live Extra App and NBC Olympics App.
NBC Olympics Live Extra will work for cable, satellite, and telco customers to provide live-stream Olympic coverage. Adobe estimates that over 3,500 hours of coverage will occur. There are 32 sports and 302 medal awarding events.
NBC Olympics App is truncated coverage of the 2012 games. This will include shorter highlights from the day's competitions. The app will help keep track of the online and TV schedules for the various sports. The app will also provide live results. There will be a new Primetime Companion feature that gives a second screen view that coordinates with the nightly broadcast of the primetime Olympic events.
The apps are designed to work on certain Android phones. They will also work on certain Android tablets that work within Google Play. The Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch are also supported.
