Ford Escape Vehicle recall announced for Potential Stuck Throttle

Car recall announced - BSN

(Best Syndication News) - Around 423,634 Ford Escape vehicles are being recalled because the cruise control cable connector is positioned without enough clearance from the engine cover and this could cause the throttle to become stuck when the gas pedal is pressed-in completely or almost fully pushed all the way down.

Only the model years of 2001 through 2004 of the Ford Escape vehicles with 3.0L V6 engines and speed control are involved in the recall. These vehicles were manufactured between October 22, 1999, and January 23, 2004.

The problem can occur whether or not the cruise control option is engaged.

If the throttle becomes stuck, the vehicle could travel at fast speeds. It could become difficult to stop or slow down the vehicle. The malfunctioning vehicle could cause the driver to lose control and crash the car. The riders in the vehicle could sustain serious injuries or even death.

Ford will be notifying the vehicle owners of the recall and instruct them on how to get it repaired at no cost at a local dealership. The recall notices will start on or before August 6, 2012. The parts to repair the problem is expected to be available at dealerships in mid-August. If the parts are not available at the time of the customer’s appointment, for safety reasons, dealers will disconnect the speed cruise control temporarily until the replacement part arrives. Vehicle owners can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
