Cash for Grass Rebate Program returns to the High Desert
|
(Best Syndication News) - The Alliance for Water Awareness and Conservation (AWAC) along with the Mojave Water Agency (MWA) and the Hesperia Water District are bringing back the Cash for Grass Program. The rebate application period will start on September 4, 2012.
The Cash for Grass Program offers single-family property owners a cash rebate for taking out living and maintained lawns and replacing them with landscaping that uses very little water. Homeowners must be within the Mojave Water Agency service area. The rebate will be for 50 cents per square foot with a maximum rebate of up to $3,000.
There is also a cash-back incentive being offered to Commercial/Industrial/Institutional Customers with rebates up to $10,000.
The new landscaping will need to be native and desert-adaptive plants. There is a limited amount of funds and the rebate is on a first come first serve basis.
First, homeowners need to apply for the Cash for Grass program. A pre-inspection must be completed before any landscaping changes occur. The applications are available at Hesperia City Hall. Hesperia applications may start being accepted on September 4, 2012.
