Barbra Streisand Collection of Previously Unreleased Recordings to be on New Album

Barbra Streisand's 'Release Me' Album cover - PRNewswire/SOURCE Columbia Records

(Best Syndication News) - Barbra Streisand will be sharing 11 songs that were not previously included on any other album. Her new album, which includes the unreleased songs, will be titled Release Me. The vinyl recording will be available on September 25 and the CD album will be available on October 9, 2012.

The songs date back to 1963 through the present day. The recordings came from Barbra Streisand's private music vault that stored the many recordings she has made over the last fifty years. Streisand had spent the last year going over all of her recordings to decide which ones to present on this album.

A 1970 recording of Jimmy Web's “Didn't We” will be on the album. It was recorded for the project titled The Singer. In 1967, Streisand recorded the standard, “Willow Weep For Me.” She recorded Randy Newman's “I Think It's Going Rain Today.”

The original master could not be found for only two of the tracks. The remaining nine songs have been transferred from first generation master tapes. The goal was to preserve the way the original recordings sounded.
