Sherwin-Williams announces recall of certain Coating, Glaze, and Paint Spray Can Products

(Best Syndication News) - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of four different Sherwin-Williams products that come in spray cans because they could leak. The contents could become exposed to an ignition source, which could cause a fire.

The four products involved in the recalls are Tree House Studio™ Clear Acrylic Matte Coating, Dupli-Color® Perfect Match™ Automotive Paint, Krylon® Triple Thick Crystal Clear Glaze, and Krylon® Indoor/Outdoor Crystal Clear Acrylic Paint.

Tree House Studio Clear Acrylic Matte Coating Recall

Around 17, 850 cans of the Tree House Studio Clear Acrylic Matte Coating were sold exclusively at Hobby Lobby craft stores nationwide between July 2011 and June 2012 at a price around $7.

The cans will have the Tree House Studio logo on it with the words “CLEAR ACRYLIC MATTE COATING” printed on the front of the label. On the bottom of the can there is a batch date HL2081LT and the UPC code of 724504103004. Only the matching batch date and product UPC code of this product is involved in the recall.

Dupli-Color® Perfect Match™ Automotive Paint Recall

Around 2,700 cans of the Dupli-Color® Perfect Match™ Automotive Paint are involved in a recall from Sherwin-Williams. The automotive paint was sold at Advance Auto, Autozone, Discount Auto Parts, General Automotive Supply, NAPA, Pep Boys, and other retail stores between July 2011 and June 2012 at a price around $7.

Only the 8-ounce spray cans of the green metallic automotive paint with the batch code “HL2031LN” and the UPC code 026916715036 are involved in this recall. The batch and UPC code is printed on the bottom of the can.

Krylon ® Triple Thick Glaze and Krylon® Indoor/Outdoor Crystal Clear Satin Acrylic Finish Recall

Around 98,400 spray cans of Krylon ® Triple Thick Glaze and Krylon® Indoor/Outdoor Crystal Clear satin acrylic finish are also being recalled for the leaky canisters. There were 31 reports of leaking canisters from consumers. There was no injuries reported. These two products were sold at Hardware, Ben Franklin, Do It Best Corp., Kmart, Lowes, Pat Catan's, Walmart and other retail stores across the country between July 2011 and June 2012 for around $7.

The products came in 12-ounce cans of the Krylon® Triple Thick Glaze and in 11-ounce cans of the Krylon® Indoor/Outdoor Crystal Clear satin acrylic finish. The batch codes involved on these cans are HL1311FV, HL2081KL, or HL2081MN with UPC codes of 075577005000 or 724504035305. The batch code and UPC code is printed on the bottom of the cans.

Conclusion

Only the products that have the matching batch codes and UPC codes with each recalled product are involved in the recall.

Consumers who have the recalled spray cans should stop using them and should contact Sherwin-Williams to get a refund.
