Amazon announces new Kindle Fire HD Tablet and Kindle Paperwhite eBook Reader

(Best Syndication News) - Amazon announced new products today -- the Kindle Fire HD tablet, and the Kindle Paperwhite eBook reader. The new tablets from Amazon will not ship yet. The Kindle Paperwhite is expected to ship around October 1, 2012, while the Kindle Fire HD models will ship on November 20, 2012. The company is offering pre-order for customers to reserve them so they can be the first to own one when they do become available.

Kindle Paperwhite Feature

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite ebook reader will be available for $119 with advertisements and $139 without the ads. The Kindle Paperwhite with 3G service capabilities is $179. The new reader has a higher resolution and better contrast than other readers. The battery life lasts for up to 8 weeks. There is also a built-in light so a person can read in the dark. The display has adjustable contrast for reading in all lighting conditions. The new reader also has an anti-glare screen for better reading outdoors.

The resolution is 212 PPI. The screen size measures 6-inches. There is 2 GB storage on the device. The reader has a 2-point multi-function touch screen display and there are no keyboard pads for typing on, such as with the Kindle Keyboard 3G model and the Kindle DX. The display technology on the new Kindle Paperwhite is using the Paperwhite Built-in light versus the E Ink Pearl in the previous Kindle readers.

Kindle Fire HD Features

The Kindle Fire HD starts as low as $199 for the 7-inch version. The Fire HD 8.9” model has a retail price of $299. The Fire HD 8.9” with 4G LTE wireless service capabilities is $499. The latest version of the Kindle Fire will now be only $159 and will be released on September 14, 2012. There are many different price points and options.

All of the Kindle Fire HD models have a display that comes with a polarizing filter and anti-glare features that offer better viewing from all angles. The colors are more vibrant because of the new InPlane Switching (IPS). The tablets have dolby audio and dual-driver stereo speakers.

Kindle Fire HD 7-inch

The $199 Kindle Fire HD model has a 7-inch display. There is a 16 GB version for $199 and a 32 GB version that is $249. The resolution is 1280 x 800 and the unit can play up to 720p HD videos.

Amazon is claiming that the Fire HD tablet is the first tablet to have dual-band, dual antenna Wi-Fi. The dual Wi-Fi makes for up to 40 percent faster download speeds. The tablet also has a 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor that has a Imagination PowerVR 3D graphics core. There is over 11 hours of battery life and it takes 4 hours to recharge using the Kindle PowerFast charging accessory and around 13.5 hours using a computer with a USB charging cable.

Kindle Fire HD 8.9”


There are four different versions of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9”. Two models are with 4G LTE wireless and Dual-Band Wi-Fi, and the other two models are with dual-band Wi-Fi only. The dual-band Wi-Fi only models are $299 for the 16 GB version and $369 for the 32 GB version. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9” with 4G LTE Wireless and Wi-Fi is $499 for the 32 GB version and $599 for the 64 GB version.

The 8.9” models have a 1920x1200 HD resolution and can play up to 1080p HD video. They come with a 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor with Imagination PowerVR 3D graphics. The tablets use the dual-band, dual-antenna that will allow for faster downloading and streaming.

The 8.9” models have the polarizing filter and anti-glare display along with the InPlane Switching technology for better viewing of colors at all angles. The sounds on the tablets are Dolby audio and there are dual-driver stereo speakers.

Kindle Fire

The orginal Kindle Fire will also have new improvements. The 7-inch Kindle Fire will be 40 percent faster than the previous version. It will have twice the memory and longer battery duration taking 3 hours to recharge with the Kindle PowerFast charging accessory. It can take 11.5 hours to charge from your computer using a USB charging cable. The new Kindle Fire has a 1.2 GHz processor and the will come with 1 GB of RAM. There is 8GB of storage on the tablet. The battery can last for up to 9 hours. There will also be a new user interface.
