(Best Syndication News) - Apple unveiled their iPad mini today, a new thinner, faster, and lighter iPad. It is the third generation of iPad products and includes retina display for better viewing from any angle. The HD camera offers high resolution pictures and conferencing. The wireless transfer speed is also faster.

The 7.9-inch Multi-Touch display offers 35 percent more screen space than the 7-inch tablets. The viewing area when browsing the web is 67 percent more usable. The display has the same number of pixels as the other iPad tablets, so it will be compatible with all iPad-supported apps.

The Apple iPad mini is lightweight and thin. The new offering weighs only 0.68 pounds and is only 7.2 mm thick. The case is aluminum for durability and the display is glass.

The processor is a dual-core A5 chip, which will improve the speed of graphics and interaction with the touch screen display. The dual-band 802.11 Wi-Fi will increase transfer speeds by up to two times compared to previous iPad tablets. The dual-band is capable of transferring data at up to 150 Mbps, depending on the available speeds offered by the Internet provider. The Apple iPad mini is also available with Wi-Fi and/or Cellular service. LTE and DC-HSDPA wireless technologies will be supported on this tablet. There is also support for wireless Bluetooth devices.

Users can subscribe to a cellular service without a contract. The tablet can be turned into a network hub for up to five devices that can connect with Bluetooth or USB. The Personal Hotspot feature is easy to use but only available with some carriers.

There are two cameras on the unit -- the FaceTime HD camera and the 5-megapixel iSight camera. The FaceTime HD camera is located on the front of the display and can be used for video conferencing. Both cameras have backside illumination to get better images in low light settings.

The 5-megapixel iSight camera is on the back of the tablet and has extra optical features for taking photos and video. The iSight camera comes with video image stabilization, and can record video and photos at full 1080p HD resolution. The iPad mini is able to share photos and video using iCloud’s Shared Photo Streams.

The iPad mini will be available in black/slate or white/silver colors starting on November 2, 2012. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the 16GB model is $329 and the 32 GB model is $429. The 64 GB model will set you back $529. The Wi-Fi + Cellular units will start shipping a few weeks after the Wi-Fi only models ship. The Wi-Fi + Cellular models will be priced at $459/16GB, $559/32GB, and $659 for 64GB models.
