Sears and Kmart announce Thanksgiving Day Doorbuster Sales
(Best Syndication News) - Sears Holdings announced today that both Sears and Kmart retail stores would be open on Thanksgiving Day in most states. State laws in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and Puerto Rico will not allow for Sears and Kmart to be open on Thanksgiving Day, but will open at 12:30 AM on Black Friday, and in Puerto Rico at Midnight.
Sears stores plan to open their doors at 8 PM (local time) on Thanksgiving Day and will remain open through Friday until 10 PM.
On Thanksgiving Day, Kmart stores will open at 6 AM (local time) until 4 pm and reopen again at 8 PM until 3 AM. Then on Black Friday, Kmart will open at 5 AM and close at 11 PM.
Traditionally, doorbusters, or rock-bottom priced deals, would bring crowds out shopping in the early morning hours on Friday. Last year, many retailers have pushed the doorbuster sales to begin on Thanksgiving Day.
Sears will offer two times for doorbuster deals during the Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday sales event. The first round of savings will be offered at 8 PM on Thursday, and then a second round will start at 4 AM on Friday.
Both Sears and Kmart will remain closed on Christmas Day.
"Sears stores will open on Thanksgiving Day. Kmart stores have been open on Thanksgiving for the last 21 years, serving as a destination for last-minute entertaining needs," said Ron Boire, executive vice president, chief merchandising officer and president, Sears and Kmart Formats. "We understand that many of our associates want to spend time with their families on the holiday, so Sears and Kmart will staff its stores with seasonal associates and those who have volunteered to work on Thanksgiving Day."
