(Best Syndication News) - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of around 20,500 Dual-Voltage Bose CineMate II Home Theater Speaker Systems because a part inside the base could ignite when used on outlets rated at 220 volts or higher in countries outside of the United States.

Bose Corporation, of Framingham, Massachusetts, received two reports of the bass modules catching on fire when used with 220-volt electrical outlets in Europe.

The Dual-Voltage CineMate II and CineMate GS Series II Home Theater Speaker Systems were sold at US Military Exchanges and at certain retail location nationwide between September 2009 and September 2012. The speakers retailed for between $600 and $800.

Both the dual-voltage CineMate Series II and CineMate GS Series II digital home theater speaker systems are being recalled. The speaker systems are designed to work on both the 120-volt US standard and the 220 volt European standard. The system comes with two speakers, one bass module, a remote control, an interface module, and accessories. The speaker system came in the color black. The models have a product code of 051365, 051470 or 057971. The product code numbers can be found within the first six digits of the serial number. The serial number is found on a label on the back of the bass module.

Consumers who have the recalled speaker system should unplug them from any electrical source and then contact Bose for a free repair or replacement bass module.

Bose Corporation can be contacted toll-free at (877) 354-1004 between 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday ET in the U.S. Consumers outside the US can contact the company at 001 (508) 614-1842, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
