Last Wednesday, Walgreens delivered four semi-trailer truckloads of bottled water, blankets, and more to help aid the people affected by Hurricane Sandy. Three of the truckloads were delivered to the American Red Cross, and one truckload was delivered to the City of New York. The company announced that two more truckloads are also on their way with more aid. Walgreens has donated merchandise, and they have worked with the local community to conduct a food drive.

They are also asking customers at all of their stores (including Duane Reade stores) to make donations during checkout in amounts of $1, $2, $5, or $10 increments. The money will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
