American Honda Generator Recall announced for possible Fuel Leak
(Best Syndication News) - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of American Honda gas powered portable generators because the fuel hose can leak. If the generator leaks fuel, it could start a fire. The company is offering a free repair and inspection to fix this potential problem.
Honda recalled the generators after becoming aware of four incidents that involved fuel leaks. No reports of fire or injuries were reported.
Around 150,600 of the Honda generators are involved in the recall. They were sold at Honda Power Equipment dealers, Camping World, Gander Mountain, Grainger, Hertz Rental, John Deere, National Pump & Compressor, Northern Tool, Scheels Sporting, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Sunbelt Rentals, True Value, United Rentals, White Cap, and Wholesale Sports locations throughout the United States. The generators retailed for around $1,150 to $1,400 and were sold between October 2011 and September 2012.
The model number of the recalled generator is EU2000i. The serial numbers fall between EAAJ-2260273 through EAAJ-2485025. The serial number is found on the lower right-side rear corner. The gas powered portable generators come in either a red and black or a camouflage design. The units measure around 20 inches long by 11 ½ inches wide and 16 ½ inches high. The words “Honda,” “EU converter,” and “2000i” are printed on the side of the generator.
Consumers who have the recalled generators should stop using them immediately until they can get the unit inspected and repaired at a nearby Honda Power Equipment dealer. To find out more information or to find a nearby repair location, consumers can contact American Honda toll-free at (888) 888-3139 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
